cranbrook is one of my favorite places on the entire planet, so i knew this wedding would be great, but jackie and michael exceeded every one of my expectations and created one of the most unique weddings i have ever been a part of. i had such a hard time choosing what photos to include, that’s how well everything turned out and is a testament to the planning and style of these two. it was incredible. that being said, the highlight of the day was being able to work with michael and jackie and play a small role in this awesome wedding.

it’s always fun when you get to photograph friends and people who have played an important part in your life. it’s even better when its a vintage inspired shoot. rachel is one of the most creative people i know, so when she told me she wanted to do a vintage engagement session i immediately got excited. the evening turned out fantastic with the sun providing some amazing light. normally my engagements last at least a couple of hours, but this shoot was only thirty minutes. im amazed with what we were able to do in that amount of time and i couldn’t be more pleased with how everything turned out.

sometimes i wish i had a videographer with me on shoots. matt and soo’s engagement would definitely fall into that category. they were so hilarious and animated, which i think the photos reflect, but it really doesn’t do them justice. we were laughing the entire time and had an absolute blast. i think my favorite part of this shoot is how much of their personalities were able to come out in the photos. you can’t help but smile.
engagements|perryn + sarah|chicago, illinois
perryn and sarah met in metro-detroit and have since traveled to chicago and now washington d.c. chicago still holds a special place in their hearts so we decided to do their engagement shoot there in their old stomping grounds. we started off at their old apartment building and worked our way down to the riverfront where perryn proposed, passing some chicago landmarks along the way. it was an absolutely gorgeous night with sarah and perryn making it an absolute blast. i had so much fun with these two that i didn’t even mind the four and a half hour drive that followed immediately after the shoot!
