perryn and sarah met in metro-detroit and have since traveled to chicago and now washington d.c. chicago still holds a special place in their hearts so we decided to do their engagement shoot there in their old stomping grounds. we started off at their old apartment building and worked our way down to the riverfront where perryn proposed, passing some chicago landmarks along the way. it was an absolutely gorgeous night with sarah and perryn making it an absolute blast. i had so much fun with these two that i didn’t even mind the four and a half hour drive that followed immediately after the shoot!
weddings|mahmood + fatima|detroit, michigan
when i learned that mahmood and fatima’s wedding was going to be at historic orchestra hall in detroit i knew it would be special and a great opportunity for photographs. i just didnt realize how special it would be. it is easily one of the coolest venues for a wedding that i have ever seen. there is the modern wing and atrium, where the ceremony took place, and there is the theater which was built in 1919. i loved the idea of shooting in the modern addition, it’s what i was looking forward to most actually, then we started shooting in the theater and i was floored by the results. the shots in the theater are hands down some of my all time favorite shots. the backdrop was incredible, as were mahmood and fatima, and when you pair a fantastic location with a fantastic couple you get great results. i have a feeling this one will remain in my portfolio for years to come.
engagements|tyler + lauren|chicago, illinois
when tyler and lauren told me that they wanted to shoot at least part of their engagement session at a lighting store i was initially skeptical of the choice. after checking out lightology’s website i got more excited about the shoot. once we arrived at the location i became ecstatic. not only were there great spaces to shoot inside with all sorts of fixtures to use, but they had a rooftop garden with amazing views of the chicago skyline. i was pretty much blown away, as were tyler and lauren. lightology was supposed to be our first stop for the engagement shoot, but they were so pleased with the shots that we didnt go to any other locations. although i still find it humorous that i drove to chicago to shoot in a lighting fixture store, im thrilled with how the photographs came out, as are tyler and lauren. if you ever get a chance, check this place out, it’s pretty cool.

an old friend referred chad and lisa to me and im so happy that she did. they are naturals in front of the camera but more importantly they are some of the nicest people i know. it was a treat working with them and im absolutely thrilled with how this wedding turned out.
engagements|danny + katherine|mackinaw city, michigan
i love to put meaning to photographs, especially when shooting engagement sessions. so when katherine mentioned to me that danny had proposed to her in the upper peninsula at a scenic overlook i knew we had to go there to take photographs. over the course of the shoot danny explained to me why he chose a spot overlooking the mackinaw bridge. he is from the upper peninsula and katherine is from the lower peninsula and what connects the two is the mackinaw bridge. all sorts of cool symbolism and meaning there.
we started off in the upper peninsula at the spot where danny proposed, then we slowly worked our way towards the bridge and then back over to mackinaw city. it was an absolutely gorgeous evening for a shoot and we had a blast. it had been years since i had seen the bridge and now i cant wait to go back. it really is an amazing place and i think a pretty good spot for photographs.
